Steps to Obtain Your Domestic Building Permit:

  1. Quotation:
    Email your project plans to [email protected] along with an estimated total cost of works for your domestic project and we will provide you with an upfront cost for our services.
  2. Document Preparation:
    Collate essential documents, including detailed architectural plans, engineering designs, site surveys, soil and energy reports etc. See our downloadable document checklist for full requirements.
  3. Application Submission:
    Email your complete permit application to our office staff at [email protected].
  4. Review and Assessment:
    Our Building Surveyors will conduct a comprehensive review of your application, to ensure compliance with the relevant Building Regulation and Australian standards.
  5. Approval Process:
    Once your application meets compliance with the building regulations, we’ll initiate the approval process. Our goal is to expedite this stage, prioritising the progression of your project.
  6. Domestic Building Permit Granted:
    Upon approval, you will receive your domestic building permit from GEBS Building Surveyors. This official document signifies that your project complies with the building regulations, allowing you to move forward with confidence. You can now commence construction of your project.
  7. Project Execution:
    Implement your domestic building project according to the approved plans. As the property owner, it’s your responsibility to call for the appropriate mandatory inspection stages. The Building Permit lists these, so you know when to call for the inspections.
  8. Final Inspection:
    Complete our application for Occupancy/CFI form and submit all appropriate certificates of compliance as detailed in our checklist. Once your application has been assessed we will contact you to book in your final inspection.
  9. Success Achieved:
    With your Final Inspection approved and all compliance certificates received, your commercial Occupancy permit or Certificate of Final Inspection will be issued. It is very important to finalise your project –

    With your Certificate of Final Inspection or Occupancy Permit in hand and your project completed safely and in accordance with regulations, you’re ready to step into your dream home.
